The Lumera Heart Project: Caregiver Initiatives for Support and Strength

Caregiving is one of the most loving things a person can do. It's also one of the hardest.
The late nights. The medical appointments. The emotional weight of watching someone you love need more than you sometimes feel you can give. And underneath all of it is the quiet, persistent fear that if you slow down, something will slip.
If any of that sounds familiar, you're in the right place.
Lumera Heart Project was created for family caregivers, people just like you, who show up every day for the people they love, often without anyone showing up for them.
What is Lumera Heart Project?
Lumera Heart Project is a California-based nonprofit with one clear mission: to provide free virtual support for family caregivers.
We exist because caregiving doesn't come with a manual. It doesn't come with built-in breaks, a community who gets it, or someone reminding you that your well-being matters too. That's the gap we were built to fill.
Our programs are virtual, which means that wherever you are and whatever your schedule looks like, support can reach you. No commute. No cost. No barriers.

Who we're here for
If you are caring for an aging parent, a spouse, a sibling, or any loved one who depends on you, Lumera Heart Project is for you.
You don't have to be in crisis to reach out. You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to be a caregiver who is ready to feel a little less alone.
We meet you where you are. That's not a tagline; it's how we operate.
What's coming
Lumera Heart Project is currently building out its programming, and we are deeply committed to getting it right.
In the coming months, we will be launching virtual caregiver support groups, a space to gather, share, and find the kind of understanding that only comes from people who truly know what this journey feels like.
We are also developing The Heart Sessions, a program designed to offer caregivers meaningful support, connection, and restoration, because you deserve more than surviving this season.
We'll share details as they become available. The best way to stay informed is to connect with us now so you're the first to know when doors open.
A note on the real cost of caregiving
The financial side of caregiving rarely gets talked about openly — and it should.
Professional in-home care can cost anywhere from $150 to $300 per day, depending on location and level of care. For many families, that number is just not possible. This means that caregiving falls to you, out of love, out of necessity, or often both.
That unpaid labor carries its own hidden costs. Stress. Disrupted sleep. Your health is quietly sliding. Lumera Heart Project exists, in part, because those costs are real and they deserve to be acknowledged.
Everything we offer is free. Because removing barriers isn't optional, it's the whole point.

The first step is a simple one.
You don't have to wait for a program to launch to connect with Lumera Heart Project.
Visit our website to learn more about who we are and what we're building. Reach out if you have questions. Follow along as we grow. And know that a community is forming, one built with you in mind.
Caregiving is a profound act of love. You deserve support that matches that.
We're here.
Thank you for taking the time to read about this important work. If you know someone who could benefit from these resources, please share this post. Caregiving is a shared journey, and together, we can make it a little easier for everyone.
