THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE MISSION

Meet the Board

The Lumera Heart Project board is made up of people who believe caregivers deserve more than they're given, and are committed to building something that changes that. Together, they bring lived experience, professional expertise, and a shared dedication to the caregivers at the heart of this work.

BOARD MEMBERS

Lumera Heart Project was founded by people who have lived the caregiving journey and built by a team that believes community, dignity, and access to support should never be out of reach. Every person on this team brings both professional expertise and personal conviction to the work.

Paula Gambina

Co-Founder, Board Member

Paula is a strategist, entrepreneur, and caregiver advocate who built Lumera Heart Project from a simple but profound realization: the support caregivers need doesn't exist in any meaningful, accessible form. As a longtime family caregiver, first for her grandfather, and now for her teenage nephew following a family tragedy, she experienced firsthand the isolation and quiet exhaustion that define the caregiving journey.

Joey Villarreal

Board Member

Joey brings a rare combination of financial rigor, operational precision, and genuine people-centeredness to the Lumera Heart board, exactly the kind of grounding a growing nonprofit needs as it builds toward scale. His career spans over two decades across nonprofit, entertainment, and business operations. He served as Director of Finance for a nonprofit organization in Austin, Texas, and spent 12 years in the family and children’s television entertainment industry in Los Angeles, where he oversaw business affairs, contract management, accounts receivable and payable, human resources, and day-to-day operations for the company. Across every role, his priority has been the same: build systems that work, protect the people inside them, and keep the organization moving forward with clarity and accountability. Joey’s background in HR law, advocacy, disability rights, and compliance brings an important layer of governance experience to Lumera’s board, one that ensures the organization operates with both integrity and care for the people it serves. He joined Lumera Heart because he believes in the mission deeply, and because he knows what it takes to build something that lasts.

Hannah Rausch

Board Member

Hannah brings over two decades of people-centered leadership to the Lumera Heart board, forged through a distinguished career at some of the world’s most respected companies. As a Senior Manager at Apple for more than 13 years, she led two of the highest-grossing stores in Los Angeles and expanded her impact internationally in Hong Kong, developing a deep expertise in building cultures where employees feel genuinely supported, inspired, and empowered to deliver their best work. Her professional journey spans human resources, talent acquisition, training and development, marketing, legal, and customer experience across Apple, General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Gap Inc., and WW. Today, she channels her entrepreneurial spirit into HannahJaneStyleGame, a curated vintage resale business built on personal styling and brand storytelling, a testament to her enduring talent for connection and community beyond the corporate sphere. Hannah joined the Lumera Heart board guided by a philosophy she has always embraced: when people feel truly seen and supported, everything around them flourishes. For caregivers who have spent years putting others first, that belief is not only deeply personal but also essential.
